Porcelain Countertops

Porcelain Countertops

65 porcelain slabs, the highest heat tolerance in our countertop catalogue. Porcelain is fired rather than resin-bound, so unlike quartz it is not affected by a hot pan set straight down on it, and like quartz it is non-porous and never needs sealing. The pattern is printed and then glazed, which makes it extremely consistent slab to slab and is why porcelain is often chosen for large-format, low-variation surfaces.

The trade-off versus quartz is edge treatment and impact: porcelain is thinner and harder, so edges are usually mitred and chipping at a corner is less forgiving. If heat is not your main concern, the 355-slab quartz range gives far more colour, finish and veining choice - the full comparison is in the quartz countertops guide.
